Do you need a separate website for AI?

Usually, there is no need to create a separate website just for AI answers. Google states that its AI Overviews and AI Mode follow foundational SEO practices, without extra specialized requirements. Crawlability, indexability and useful content remain relevant.

This does not mean every AI product reads or presents content in the same way. Retrieval methods, environments and answer behavior need separate observation. One result on one platform cannot represent the whole ecosystem.

Make the brand, service and evidence clear

The home page should explain who you are, what you offer and whom it is for. Service pages should state inputs, deliverables, scope and limits. Articles should answer a concrete question before developing the supporting evidence.

Keep important information in the initial HTML, use normal text links and meaningful heading levels. Canonical URLs, language relationships and sitemaps clarify page relationships. Structured data should match visible content.

  • Give each page one primary visitor task.
  • Keep factual and capability statements consistent.
  • Make sources, authorship and real update dates available.
  • Keep unresolved information explicit.

GEO adds observation of the answer

We examine whether a brand enters the candidate set, is described accurately, receives reasons relevant to the buyer and has citations that support those reasons. Mention counts alone do not answer these questions.

Agree on buyer tasks, markets and question scope, then record timing and observation methods. Explain findings under different conditions separately, and distinguish technical failures and unknowns from brand performance.

Turn findings into practical improvements

If deployment options are described unclearly, first check whether public pages explain applicable conditions, contradict one another or lack supporting evidence. Change the relevant pages, content or sources, then retest under recorded conditions.

Retesting still needs to account for platform and environment changes. A page edit followed by one different answer does not establish causal growth. An llms.txt index may help navigation, but cannot guarantee discovery, citation or ranking.

  • Identify the page and factual statement to change.
  • Agree on ownership, scope and acceptance criteria.
  • Retain versions and retest records.
